It is mainly two cities: //Poznan// and //Wroclaw//. They are lively cultural and social centres. Both cities are close to the western border and due to this fact they thrive economically.
In //Poznan// you can see a cathedral that is over 1000 years old. There is also a fortress dated from 1828. There is a sleighing and skiing slope available throughout the year. Here you can pay a visit to the Zoo, enjoy a ride by a narrow-gauge railway, or visit a big palm house and a beautiful old town. In //Wroclaw// you will see why people have nicked it "Poland's Venice". There is an amazing town hall - the finest gothic building in Central Europe. Apart from that you can also visit a botanical and a Japanese garden, which are both must-see places. If you happen to be here in the right time, you can enjoy a great cultural feast - //Wratislavia Cantans // - international festival of music and fine arts. You can also find here an impressive historical painting //Panorama Raclawicka// Panorama of Raclawice famous for its huge size - 120m by 15m. You can also visit old mines. The city also boasts a great Zoo with plenty animal species from all over the world. This part of Poland is also a home to //Drawieński// National Park with many cycling and walking routes. It also has several castles that are worth visiting.
Gourmets will enjoy special dishes, such as steam cooked leavened buns, and scrambled eggs with mushroom and potatoes, and venison.
